Description: During the euphoria that marked the beginning of the Java technology, many were trying to project the market potential unlocked by the use of a broad reaching standard architecture like Java. As part of the SmartPower strategy at Cummins, George looked forward to the possibilities offered by widespread acceptance of the Java technology in the transportation industry. Although the full realization of the Java potential was diminished by our friends in Redmond, this video captures an interesting look back from over a decade in the past! The underlying principle of using a standard architecture to provide a foundation for widespread communication and application development is still a viable concept and has been used in all of our product efforts.
